Pilates is not simply another form of exercise but a whole new method of understanding your body. The process is remarkable.

Let us show you how the proper form gets the best results!

Pilates awakens your inner body, bringing to life muscles you didn’t even know you had. Before you know it you are longer, leaner, and feel more in control of your body than ever before.

Pilates revolutionary movement concepts are designed to strengthen and balance the body. What Pilates calls the “powerhouse” or the “core” (abdomen, lower back, hips, and buttocks) are the deep postural muscles, the muscles that support the spine and are usually the most neglected in traditional cardio and weight lifting workouts.

The Pilates method treats the body as a whole, working all parts together, from fingers to toes. All of these exercises are initiated from the “core” acting as a supporting base for the arms and legs to move from, with specific intent. These precise movements help one to strengthen and lengthen all the muscles of the body. Thus Pilates is a great method to streamline your figure and restore your posture aiding in an enhanced physical and emotional state of being.

The workouts consist of specific exercises with focused breathing patterns that can be performed alone as mat work or on the special apparatus Pilates invented. The reformer is one of Joseph Pilates creations made to assist the body to reform itself. This “reformer,” is a flat bed gliding on springs, using a strap and pulley system to move the body through the exercises. All of the exercises use resistance, and qualify as weight bearing activity for your muscles and bones. Weight bearing activities are important for increasing and maintaining bone density.

In addition to strengthening individual muscles, the Pilates method focuses on deep breathing. The breath is as important as the movements themselves. The breathing helps Pilate’s students to quiet and connect with their mind/ inner being. Think of the breath like a muscle and over time strengthening the breath can increase lung capacity, improve circulation, reduce stress and relieve muscular tension. Allowing the breath to connect the mind and body and thereby will was a passion of Joseph Pilates. Joseph Pilates believed that the power of our minds controlled the body. Pilates includes focus, precision and efficiency.
